BRAHMS REQUIEM WITH BINGHAM CS
Brahms German Requiem -
The whole process of a joint concert with Bingham and District Choral Society was a joy. The piece chosen, the Brahms German Requiem, is glorious music which demands large forces and requires a good acoustic. We managed to stage 190 choristers and an orchestra of 73 in the fabulous surroundings of Southwell Minster. The sound produced was enjoyed by audience and performers in equal measure. Our thanks go to Richard Joyner and Bingham Choral Society together with Neville Ward and Roger Bryan for involving us in the project from the outset. We hope to stage Bach’s St Matthew Passion in the spring of 2013 as another joint venture. Something to relish for the future. Our thanks go to the Minster staff for all their help in staging the production and to the Nottingham Symphony Orchestra for all their hard work in preparation and during the performance.
